Faith Museum, Auckland Castle – Niall McLaughlin Architects

An exhibition space, and part of the Auckland Project, in a new building with the form of a medieval barn. Built with local Cop Crag sandstone.

Together with the Tower at Auckland Castle, also designed by Niall McLaughlin Architects, the museum is the winner of a RIBA National Award 2024, RIBA North East Award 2024, RIBA North East Building of the Year Award 2024.

Auckland Castle is a Grade I listed medieval palace which has been the seat of the Bishop of Durham for nearly a millennium.  The Auckland Project has been transforming it into a centre for arts, culture, and heritage for visitors.
